Mountain climbing

13th April 2018 By Amanda Lambert

Pen y fan successfully climbed 2014 – my first mountain climb! – took months of planning, firstly finding a mountain that would be suitable with a good path then sending 2 members of our team to survey it plus lots of walking practice to build up to the climb !

I may not be able to walk unaided but with the help of a hart walker I have been walking since I was 3 and absolutely love it! I walk every day. It usually takes 2 people to help get me in the brace and on the wheels .

This is my best bit of kit as well as my boat of course!

With the help of my walker I can climb mountains!

Think I’m probably the first person with cerebral palsy to climb a mountain with a walker!🏔

So far I have climbed Pen y fan in Wales, Kippur in the Wicklow mountains Ireland and the biggest Cairngorm in Scotland . Plans for the future …definitely more mountain climbing!!

Always looking for more challenges if anyone knows of a fairly accessible Mountain please get in touch! 😉😃
